US, Britain and other contries issue Bahamas Travel Warnings: Both governments warn travelers that the Bahamas is not a safe place. Even 5 million visitors are no evidence that the Bahamas is a top travel destination because most Americans arrive by cruiseships, stay only a few hours in Nassau and Freeport and return home very often disappointed. More and more travel agents are refusing to send clients to the Bahamas due to high prices, poor services, bad attitudes and the poor environmental quality. The Bahamas tourism industry does not benefit from a good product the Bahamas profits only from the close location to Florida and the trend towards frequent but short vacation. Americans still wait for what many Europeans do already since years: They travel to Cuba instead to The Bahamas.

The Bahamas are a third world country and consequently very corrupt. Travellers experience a hostile atmosphere and recognize very quickly that Bahamians are friendly only if they can take any advantage of foreigners. The environment is not always what one can expect considering the pictures in booklets published by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. Nassau is a filthy town, Paradise Island is already overpopulated, it stinks at PI Bridge from the sewerage tanks, cab-driver charge you per person and prices are more than double than in the US. These are only a few of the negative aspects.

Just next to Nassau´s harbor one find already the strange contrast between rich and poor neigborhoods. Even at Bay Street one can see broken down properties, fly-blown restaurants and paint-peeling shops with bars on windows for addional security. One find already big slums if you pass the 5 star Gray Cliff Hotel at Blue Hill Road or the Police Head Quarter at East Street. Bahamas Consult recommends high caution on footpathes because due to uneven pavements and holes.

There are nice places in The Bahamas but Americans say they will never go back there because people are selfish as a general rule. If it does not direct affect Bahamians they will turn a blind eye and that includes cops and government official, etc. The criminal element is tenacious and most of the good guys have simply given up, so yes, the bad guys are indeed winning. Americans are growing wary

As the Americans have done it in the past the US Department of State recomend that specially students travelling in groups should take note to be extremely aware of their surroundings at all times The advisory also warns travelers not walk alone in isolated areas or after dark. Be particularly cautious on secluded beaches. And when traveling, use only clearly marked busses or taxis, the advisory cautioned. Students should avoid being alone with a group of strangers..

Bahamas Consult also recommends to be careful on the way to a nightclub or when you come out of discos at night. We have a real crime problem here in Nassau. The US statement cautioned American citizens to stay away from drug peddlers, and advised against accepting packages from people during their stay. Visitors found alone or incapacitated have been victims of rape, robbery and assault. Intoxicated young women have been sexually assaulted after reportedly being drugged.

The Bahamas is a society under chaos

About the development of a deepening crime problem in The Bahamas reports a local psychologist, Dr. David Allen. Robbers who shoot their victims even after they have handed over cash and jewellery appears to be part of a disturbing crime trend, he warned. "Usually they get what they want and leave you alone, now they get what they want and will still kill you“, he said and believes that the rob-and-kill trend is connected to the drug culture, where guns are used to protect drugs like cocaine. He is calling on the country's leaders - political, community and religious - to act now before the crime problem becomes like the issue of immigration.

Another concern for police is a trend seen among licensed shot guns. Burglars are targeting homes with shotguns, stealing them from homeowners, modifying them (sawing off the tips) and using them to commit other crimes or selling them, said Supt. Marvin Dames. 69 per cent of the shotguns in the year 2004 were licensed shotguns that had been stolen from private homes.

Tourists, travel agents, potential second homeowners and investors should take in their consideration the crime reports of killers, mayhem, armed robberies, assaults, rising rapes, dope dealing arrests and serious offences against foreigners which are filled in every Bahamian newspaper. In the Bahamian society exists a blatant lack of respect for foreigners human life, claims Bahamas Consult.

Bahamas Consult calls every promotion activity for The Bahamas, additional airlifts and sealink a tourist trap. The islands and the water are no longer clean and pure. Waste is piling up. Bahamians are suffering from pollution, drug trafficking and risks to their lives and health.

Foreigners are crying out for justice in The Bahamas

Even if you might have once enjoyed your stay in The Bahamas it would be indeed a wrong decision to look for a property in The Bahamas. Second homes need a full time protection against theft, vandalism, fire and hurricane as well as good maintanance in regard to termite and ant control, meldue, rust and rotten wood for instance.

Foreigners say that almost everybody in the Bahamian legal system is corrupt. Bahamian judges often acquit a defendant due to insufficient prosecution. Another extreme danger in this little island nation is that the Bahamian society is full of envy. Bahamians steal a lot and cheat even family members. Logically especially foreigners are the victims in the Bahamas. In countries like the Bahamas corruption is wide spread. It is no secret that the Bahamian government and his helpers on princible support red-tapism, corruption, and dishonesty. The Bahamas is no place where foreigners could get justice. Nepotism and fraternity are deeply rooted. One find also a lot high ranked officials who are not well trained which cause high inefficieny in public services. The Bahamas has by no means a climate for foreign investments. Many Bahamians are thieves, crookes, sharks, gangster and modern pirates. In a report to the government the Tourism Task Force described The Bahamas as a state of crisis.
